Convert a Bank Statement PDF to Excel
Budgeting, bookkeeping, a tax return or a loan application often starts with copying transactions from a bank statement. PDF to Excel reads the transaction tables and puts dates, descriptions and amounts into spreadsheet cells. Statements downloaded from online banking already contain text; scanned statements are read with OCR automatically.

Statements in Excel
Digital statements
PDFs from online banking contain real text, so dates and amounts are taken over exactly as printed.
Scanned statements
Paper statements scanned to PDF – or photos of them saved as a PDF – are recognized with OCR. Clean, straight scans give the most reliable numbers.
Ready to sort and filter
Each value lands in its own cell. Amounts recognized on scanned pages become numeric cells; if Excel marks numbers as stored as text, use "Convert to Number".
One list or one sheet per page
Combine all pages into one sheet for filtering, or keep the page structure.
Keep a searchable copy
To keep the statement as a PDF but make it searchable, use OCR PDF.
Several statements
Combine monthly statements first with Merge PDF, then convert them in one go.
Good to Know
- Statements are processed on our server over an encrypted connection and deleted after the conversion. Remove pages you do not need to share, and check your bank's and employer's rules for confidential data.
- Layouts differ from bank to bank. Descriptions that run over two lines can end up in separate rows, and OCR can confuse digits such as 1 and 7 – always reconcile the totals.
- Password-protected statements must be opened first with Unlock PDF (you need the password).
Bank Statements to Excel – Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work with any bank?
It reads the tables of the PDF, not a bank-specific format, so most statements work. Unusual layouts may need some tidying in Excel.
Can it read a scanned statement?
Yes, when it is a PDF. OCR recognizes the text automatically; check the numbers carefully, especially in low-quality scans. Photos need to be saved as a PDF first.
Can I get CSV instead of Excel?
The download is an .xlsx file; Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers can save it as CSV.
Is my statement stored?
No. The file is deleted after the conversion, and nothing is kept for other purposes.
Is it free?
Yes – free, without sign-up or watermark.
