Tips for Splitting Long PDFs

Page numbers in the file

Ranges use the position of the page in the file. If the book starts with a cover and roman-numbered pages, chapter 1 may begin on page 15 of the file.

Bookmarks

If the PDF has bookmarks, choose "By bookmarks (chapters)": every top-level bookmark starts a new file named after the chapter. Without bookmarks, enter the ranges yourself.

Equal parts instead

If chapters do not matter, split into a set number of files or a fixed number of pages per file.

Still too large to send?

Compress a chapter with Compress PDF if it is still over an upload or email limit.

No quality loss

Pages are copied as they are – text stays selectable and images keep their resolution.
